WORLDWIDE > Fulbright’s English Teaching Assistant (ETA) programmes place Fulbrighters in classrooms abroad to provide assistance to the local English teachers. ETAs help teach the English language while serving as cultural ambassadors for the US. The age and academic level of the students vary by country, ranging from kindergarten to university level. ⭐️EPIK Spring 2027 Applications Are Open
SOUTH KOREA > Applications to to apply for one year teaching contracts through the English Programme in Korea (EPIK) opened on August 1. With the aim of improving the English language skills of Korean students, the programme is affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Education and is open to nationals of the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, with a BA degree in any subject, and aged under 62.

WORLDWIDE > World Animal Welfare recently launched. The free platform that connects animal shelters, rescues, and sanctuaries with volunteers around the world currently has 65+ partner shelters in over ten countries, from Costa Rica to Nepal to Greece.
⭐️Sol Sanctuary And Wildlife Rescue Centre
COSTA RICA > It looks rather nice at Playa Grande, in Guanacaste. Nestled in the jungle and steps from the beach, this eco-friendly location provides, for a fee, the opportunity for volunteers to enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica while helping to give back to the nature and the animals of this beautiful country. The profits generated from the retreats are reinvested into their nonprofit organisation, the Wildlife Protection Alliance.

AUSTRALIA > Funny Ana Barros is currently working at Potoroo Palace Native Animal Education Sanctuary in Merimbula, NSW. Dedicated to the protection and education of Australia’s native wildlife, she says (private group) that they are looking for new volunteers. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside many iconic Australian native animals, including koalas, wombats, kangaroos, wallabies, bettongs, dingoes, emus, flying foxes, cockatoos, parrots, kookaburras, reptiles, and many more native species.

GERMANY > Germans with a native level of English, or native English speakers already living in Germany, will have to wait a little longer until Language Farm updates their application form to join their English language summer camps in 2027. For camp leaders with experience working with kids in English or international camps, interested in working the current, ongoing season until the end of October, and for next season, the time is now.
⭐️Volunteers Are Welcome To Help The Assa Centre in Southern Morocco
MOROCCO > Far from the usual tourist routes, where many families face real economic hardship and young people have fewer educational opportunities, the Centre Michel Vieuchange is looking for volunteers who genuinely want to contribute. You will work alongside local teachers and staff who are already deeply committed to their students.
Depending on your abilities and the centre’s needs, you may assist in classrooms, lead language lessons or conversation activities, or help with other practical responsibilities. Teaching experience is welcome, but not required.
CMV provides simple shared accommodation, two meals per day, and local support. Volunteers should be prepared to share space, participate in daily responsibilities, adapt to rural life, and contribute approximately 18 evening hours each week.

GREECE > Sharing her Greek island home of Aegina, Rowena Harding recently alerted us to Vrouva Farm Animal Sanctuary’s urgent need for volunteers to fill in for some cancellations they had recently. Once this emergency has passed, the safe haven for old, abandoned and abused animals will next have openings for volunteers in January 2027.
⭐️A Chance To Volunteer Near The Pyramids
EGYPT > Alf Layla Eco Farm & Guesthouse first came to our attention when they announced themselves to a wanted ad. In the Egyptian countryside on the outskirts of Cairo, 13km from the Pyramids, the only other reference to their taking on volunteers is this advert from a few months ago.

⭐️Bird Ringing Camp Volunteer Waiting List
POLAND > Operation Baltic is a world renowned bird research project going on for more than half a century. Already, as we write on the same day this opportunity was posted, all places for volunteers without bird handling experience are already taken, but they are accepting applications for their waiting list and still have spots for candidates with experience with extracting birds from mist nets. Apply by September 7.
⭐️Learn The Bedouin Way
JORDAN > Ming Khor enjoyed her experience helping a Bedouin homesteader with their garden in Wadi Rum. She answered an ad for volunteers on Facebook and spent a month learning the Bedouin way in Wadi Rum, close to Aqaba in southern Jordan, living in a tent for a month to master the secrets of the desert.
You too can experience the Bedouin desert culture by volunteering on projects hosted by or with Bedouin families in Wadi Rum, or in nearby Wadi Musa. On days off, volunteers will be able to enjoy all the activities offered to paying tourists, such as rock climbing, trekking, horse riding, jeep tours and trips to Petra, the famed city of the Nabataeans.
We found the following work exchanges on Workaway needing help over the next few months:
* Experience life in our Bedouin culture in Wadi Rum - See Wadi Rum from the Bedouin’s perspective and not as a tourist. For your host, Zead, life is all about giving the guests in his traditional Bedouin camp the best experience. This includes guiding tours, hiking through the desert and sleeping under the stars. Though experienced in this side of the business, he needs help creating and maintaining an online presence for his business. If you feel fit enough, you can assist with guiding tours too.
* Help care for the animals/with social media and learn about Bedouin way of life in Petra - Bedouin families used to live in caves in and around the historic and stunning Petra site until they were moved by the government into modern housing in a nearby village. Ghassab, who returned home from living in Germany, looks for volunteers to clean, feed, and herd goats in the mountains. There’s a spare room, but if you want to stay in a cave, it is an option sometimes of the year. We featured this Workaway a few years ago in a post about cave houses. Back then, volunteers were taken every day into the mountains by Ghassab’s 85 year old mother. She’s 90 now and still very strong and healthy for her age.
* Join my traditional Bedouin Camp and experience amazing Wadi Rum - Volunteers able to expand this desert camp’s online presence to attract new visitors are most coveted, but professional photographers and volunteers with experience in social media marketing are also desired. Volunteers will receive a warm welcome and a bed in Mohammed’s house when staying in the village, and a private tent when in the desert.
* Help at my beautiful camp and exchange culture in Wadi Rum desert - Workawayers can choose to stay in Ahmad’s family home or at the camp, where a typical night is sitting around the fire, cooking food and drinking cups of sweet Bedouin tea, exchanging stories, ideas and singing, wrapped in blankets. Expect to be visited by desert mice at night and by small birds in the early morning, as they search for breadcrumbs and food.
* Social media gurus welcome to enjoy an authentic Bedouin experience in the Wadi Rum desert - If you’re good with photography, video editing, writing, or social media management, this family owned and operated camp welcomes the support of tech savvy people to improve their website and online presence. Supporting camp activities - assisting with guests, organising small events, or helping with daily camp life - is also an option here.
* Experience life in our Bedouin culture in Wadi Rum - For Cormac, staying with Ziad and his family for three weeks in Wadi Rum was among the most incredible and unique of his dozen or so volunteering experiences over the last couple of years. Most of his time was spent helping around the camp, with the breakfast and dinner service, cleaning the tents, and feeding the sheep and camels. If you have a driving license, you can borrow a car and go around the village or desert by yourself.

SPAIN > Time and Space Equine Education Sanctuary in Southern Spain is looking for practical volunteers to help them prepare for the winter months. More details below or via Volunteer, Work and Travel away Europe.
⭐️Registration Of Interest For JCA’s Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship
UK > JCA Adventure’s ten month outdoor activity instructor apprenticeship starts in January each year, offering the chance to gain experience and industry recognised qualifications while earning the National Apprenticeship Wage. This is a residential position based at Condover Hall in Shropshire, one of their UK children’s activity centres. Registrations of interest for 2027 are now being taken.
⭐️There’s Still Time For Peace Boat
AT SEA > The deadline is coming up to get onto Peace Boat’s 125th voyage departing Japan on December 15. Their GET language school onboard looks for experienced English or Spanish language teachers to join them on their way to Antarctica via the savannah fields of Africa, the rainforests and mountains of South America, and the sparkling seas of the South Pacific. While these are unpaid positions, Peace Boat covers the cost of visas, port fees, room and board. Applications close on August 24.
⭐️Language Inn Osaka Accommodation Work Exchange
JAPAN > Language Inn is a side hustle of the J-Hoppers Osaka Universal hostel. They are hoping to have many foreigners stay with them, offering free accommodation to create an international English language atmosphere in their hostel for Japanese guests. The work exchange is open to those with a working holiday visa, spouse visa, or a student visa, but not on a tourist visa.
⭐️Five Childcare Employers In The Alps This Winter
EUROPE > Ski Famille and Ski Vertigo are good options in particular for skiing childcarers. They welcome British passport holders and still had childcare roles available in the French Alps for winter 26/27 when we last checked in on them just over a week ago.
Powder Byrne’s services to their guests in Austria, Switzerland and Italy include exclusive childcare facilities. Managers, children’s club assistants and crèche assistants are needed to staff these. They always require additional personnel over the winter season’s peak weeks - Christmas/New Year, February half term and Easter.
If you can professionally communicate with parents and suppliers whilst always remaining calm and in control with a reassuring smile, TUI is hiring childcare reps for their Crystal Ski brand. Applicants must hold an EU passport.
Chilly Powder began their recruitment process nice and early for positions including nannies in Morzine-Avoriaz. Just over a week ago, they were advertising for someone with childcare qualifications to be their next childcare manager.
The childcare team at Family Ski consists of qualified early years specialists, activity leaders, and ski school helpers. The bad news is they are already fully recruited for the 26/27 season, but those with the right to work in France can be added to their reserve team.
Neilson would be on this list, but as we wrote in May, they are still taking registrations of interest for the winter. They also state the best pathway to winter currently is through working a Neilson summer season.
Childcare specialists Alpine Resort Nannies, Merinannies, and Jelly and Ice Cream are also obvious good options to ponder.
⭐️Become A Nanny In The Three Valleys
FRANCE > Not all of their team can return next season, as much as they would love them to, so Méribel Nanny Services are recruiting for their last two full time spaces for Winter 2026/27. More details below or via Winter 2026/27 Ski Season Jobs.
⭐️Grape Picking In France
FRANCE > The French vendange is no longer the rite of passage it once was for previous generations of working travellers. Nonetheless, there is still interest in harvesting work in Europe. The changing climate will have its say - and grapes have always followed their own timetable - with harvests starting up to two weeks later or earlier than expected, but the French grape picking harvest typically begins in September, sometimes October, with recruitment kicking in this month.
Jobs will be available, often at short notice, for pickers and porters in the winefields of the ten main growing regions. These are: Alsace, Beaujolais, Bergerac, Bordelais, Bourgogne, Champagne, Chablis, Chotes du Rhone, Languedoc Roussilion and Val Loire. Grape picking starts earliest in southern France. Some areas might be on fire.
French speakers with the right to work in France can make use of job listings on France Travail, a French government agency website. Contact details for half a dozen vineyards are given on Picking Jobs. Volunteering for an experience and camaraderie could be another idea.
