⭐️EPIK’s Fall Application Period Should Be Open Now
SOUTH KOREA > How our heart lept when we saw EPIK’s notice that they have updated their website. It sank again once we realised it is still shit. It is better to navigate around, taking not long at all to find the how to apply page, and read the wonky text that applications for teaching in Korea through this programme, affiliated with the Korean Ministry of Education, should open on February 1. Many potential teachers use an agency such as Korvia Consultancy. Annah Pokubye’s application walk through came up first when we searched YouTube. Advice may also be found in r/teachinginkorea.

ICELAND > Land and Forest Iceland’s search for volunteers, which we mentioned in the last issue of JAB, will be coming to an end on February 15. Another way to apply, by the same date, for conservation work on the island is through the Nature Conservation Agency of Iceland. Their trail teams spend ten weeks on a selection of nature protection tasks and natural trail maintenance projects throughout the country’s national parks and nature reserves. The remoteness of the worksites and Iceland’s notoriously changeable weather make this volunteer programme both a challenge and an adventure. Applicants should be aged over 20.

⭐️Extra! Extra! Read All About It!
UK & WORLDWIDE > For a while, we’ve had the bones of a post about earning money as a film or TV extra sitting in our drafts and - hoorah! - we don’t have to finish it. Emma Lunn, writing in The Guardian, has done it for us. In her article, she reveals extras can expect to be paid between £150 and £250 a day on average, and lists agencies such as Uni-versal Extras. For readers in Ireland, we’d add Belfast based The Extras Dept. More agencies are provided in Save The Student.
Other advice in the piece suggests watching out for casting calls. Many are listed in Backstage and Project Casting, and through Facebook groups such as Film & TV Casting Calls UK.
Working as a background artist can be a lucrative side hustle, boosting travel funds before setting off and also while already on the road. JAB met the captain of a hijacked ship rescued by a girl with the ability to talk with animals in a restaurant in Chiang Mai, and here’s the ex of an old flatmate wearing a green shirt, chatting away behind Hugh Grant in Notting Hill.
Other travellers who have fallen into it include Johnny Duncan, who, on the second day of his first backpacking trip, was approached by film scouts and able to extend his time in Cairo doing various films, playing everything from a British diplomat to a doctor, a businessman and an army officer. He suggests, if you want to try the same, staying in or asking around at the cheapest backpacker guesthouses, and you might be approached.
Digital nomad James Clark method acted sitting in front of a computer for a cut scene in The Impossible about the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. Travel bloggers Cody McKibben, Adventurous Kate and Backpacking Matt danced in the background of a Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan for a German action movie, and Turner Barr got paid to stand around smoking dressed as an American soldier for a National Geographic documentary shot in Bangkok.
None of these went on to a career as a film extra, unlike John Walker who found that his look – skinny and not too good-looking – was in high demand, leading to more than 2,500 appearances on screen, or Jill Goldston, whose 60 year career as an extra was itself the subject of a film.
⭐️Eco Villa Renovation Volunteer Project
ITALY > An update has come over the wires from Voluntouring.org that ColivingLiguria is taking requests from volunteers interested in transforming beautiful, historic villas into a vibrant coliving space for remote workers, volunteers, and anyone who wants to take a break from frustrating city life. Flexible volunteer hours are agreed individually, and accommodation is offered in return.
⭐️Another Koh Rong Sanloem Volunteering Option
CAMBODIA > You can add SunBoo Beach Bungalows to last month’s Koh Rong Sanloem volunteering options. They are open to hosting people looking for a short term work exchange (private group) or long term employment opportunity at Sunset Beach.
⭐️Campsite Couriers
SPAIN & FRANCE > A new campsite team leader is in the sights of Siesta Lifestyle Holidays. They particularly want one that is enthusiastic, fun loving and responsible, who is also an EU passport holder or a UK national with residency in Spain. The use of a Gmail address on the advert looks a bit dodgy, but we checked their own website - where they also list vacancies for campsite couriers and couple site reps - and they use it there, too. KelAir Campotel is also advertising for couples couriers.
⭐️Waiters/Waitresses Wanted In Mallorca
SPAIN > Megapark has been on Hosco again, this time to advertise in English ten vacancies for wait staff to serve their mostly German customers. See their website for a video presentation of all their vacancies.

This experience is open to anyone with a passport, whether you’re a seasoned traveller or total novice, as long as you’re aged over 18 and legally resident in the UK. Applications are open until March 29.
⭐️Carry On English Language Summer Camping
EUROPE > A fair number of the posts we’ve shared in the last couple of issues of JAB have been from immersive English language summer camps for kids. The goal with these is to mix activities, games and fun into an English language environment created by native speakers.
Why not round them all up into one post, we thought. You get another chance to ponder the chances of getting a work visa to live in the woods or mountains in Europe, and JAB gets more time in the pub to add even more jobs abroad goodness into this issue.
In Germany, Fokus Camps are present in ten camp locations around the country, each needing their fill of enthusiastic, energetic English native level speaking camp counsellors, who are able to run sports and activities programmes for two to six week placements. And, good news for Germans with a native level of English, or native English speakers already living in Germany, Language Farm have now updated their application form for 2026.
There is a map of Kids Camp America’s kids camps in Germany on their jobs page. They hire teachers and teaching assistants with experience working with children - either in a teaching position or as a coach, au pair or similar - from English speaking countries all over the world, as well as German born English speakers, to run their sports and activities programmes.
A weekly summer salary of between €720 and €810, along with travel reimbursement and room and board, is paid to the English teachers who land this job with Alpadia Language Schools.
In France, American Village Camps seek energetic, creative, team players who are fluent English speakers who love working with children. Young Austria has been encouraging the participants in their kids’ camps to speak English in all situations - for the whole day - since 1950. They’re looking forward to receiving applications from native English speakers for yet another year.
Village Camps will be needing language teachers, activity counsellors and support staff for their summer camps in Austria, Switzerland and Portugal this summer, from the end of June until early or mid August. Two more options in Switzerland are Camp Suisse and Le Rosey Camps.
The English Camp Company is present in Austria and also in Italy. Their staff are volunteers. You Can Camp also takes on volunteers for their camps in Italy. They accept American, Australian, Canadian, Kiwi and European participants aged 20 to 35 years old, with a college degree or attending college/university. Alternatively, a TEFL certificate or previous camp experience is accepted as well.
Each year, Dalina Borcan recruits for summer camps in Transylvania, Romania, selecting English speaking volunteers who are 18 to 40 years old, energetic, enthusiastic, and who enjoy working with children and young people. Volunteers should be able to spend a minimum of four weeks here, but can stay the whole summer should they wish.
Lastly, to Spain. The Village offers an opportunity to work as a summer camp coach there for four weeks in July. They hire native English speakers (or Spaniards with C1) to engage in sports, music, dance, drama, games, outdoor activities, and coastal and mountain trekking.
Amy and Andrew, a British couple JAB met in Thailand a few years ago, are still on the road 13 years after they left home. One of their experiences in that time was a stint working in English camps in Spain. They share both their lowdown on how this went, and these companies that run English camps in the country: Forenex, Enforex, and TECS.
⭐️Ten Weeks Working At An Immersive English Camp: A Survivor’s Story
SPAIN > For anyone who’s considering a camp job, Stephanie Saint shares her story of the ten weeks she spent working at an immersive English camp in the north of Spain. The kids that attend the camp are meant to eat, sleep and breathe English for the duration of their stay, and, although she looks back on the camp with fond memories, it was also a pretty immersive experience for the teachers, too, for both good and bad reasons.
⭐️More Language Camp Vacancies
ITALY > Other camp positions to consider are the ones run by Alphabet Education. They believe that a summer camp is not only a programme, but also - and above all - a place that surrounds the participants and creates a whole new world. The place they chose for this goal, in the hills on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, attracted the abuses of their lawyers, according to our translation of their Italian language newsletter.
Ideal candidates for the ESL teacher, camp counsellor and group leader roles will be native English speakers, patient, have previous experience working with students, and possess ESL certification. Consider, too, this position that popped up last week in the English Teachers in Italy Association group. It will suit 18 to 35s happy to work with kids and available in July.
Lastly, every year, every single year, we check out Lingue Senza Frontiere’s website and social media and think nope, they’ve closed down. A year later, when we start thinking about English camp vacancies again, we find that they did run camps and staffed them with native English speakers with bubbly characters and a genuine interest in working with children. Currently, as expected, their application form is for 2025, but this will change at some point between now and this time next year.
⭐️Camp Europe
EUROPE > Though we missed their applications opening up last autumn - bad JAB! Bad! - yet another summer camp option is Camp Europe, who do their thing across various campsite locations in Germany, Austria, Ireland, England, Spain, and Italy. They hire camp counsellors, language coaches, offer a three month long internship, and a six month long outdoor education diploma. They also hire coordinators. Many of these come with a stipend to provide financial support.
Academic Camp doesn’t seem to be doing anything in Germany this year, but they do hire teachers and camp counsellors for their camps around the UK. As well as these, they are running a couple of camps in Canada.
⭐️Make A Real Difference In The Lives Of Animals
COSTA RICA > Wild Sun Rescue Center will be short of hands this March unless they get some support over the coming months. There’s no programme fee if volunteering for 12 weeks.

⭐️Make New Friends, Party All Night, Tan Under The Sun By Day
GREECE > Saloon Tex Club in Kos tried to post an ad to our Facebook group in December, and we’ve only just noticed that a) it ended up in our spam folder, and b) we have a spam folder. The ad for promoters, proppers/PRs, reps, bartenders and DJs for their club was nearly the same as this one on their Instagram.
If their reviews are to be believed, the DJ should be able to burb into a microphone, the bartenders adept at watering down drinks, and PRs should be super aggressive. But, if there is a time and a place for this sort of thing, summer 26 in Kos is probably it.
Another summer 26 holiday job in Kos is this one, put forward by Wild Bull Kos. They are hiring bar staff and floor staff.
⭐️Volunteering Good, Bad And Ugly
WORLDWIDE > Abbey, a redhead gone rogue, has enjoyed her money saving experiences on the Worldpackers platform, volunteering in Turkiye, Morocco and in a castle in Scotland. Emma, who fled her Workaway host in the middle of the night, not so much. Both introduce us to Fialka, who doesn’t have the Workaway spirit and tries to ruin volunteering for us with her own horror stories and these from the Worldpackers subreddit.
⭐️More Safe Sailing
AT SEA > Emma’s host in Panama (see above) co owned a sailing school. Both her and Fialka have heard many similar horror stories from female volunteers on boats and conjecture that sailing experiences seem to attract the creeps. Here’s a reminder of our safe sailing post from May 2024.
⭐️The First Vegan Hotel In Italy Is Hiring
ITALY > La Vimea April is hiring Italian and English speaking (German is an advantage) reception, service, and housekeeping staff for April to November. It’s EU nationals only, and preference will be given to vegan applicants.

AT SEA > From mid to the end of February, a chef with experience in multi course plated menus will be travelling Europe before crossing the ocean to the Caribbean and/or USA later in the year. ⭐️Workcampers Wanted In Virginia
USA > Indian Cove Resort in Virginia Beach is looking to hire workcampers for their 2026 season.
⭐️Greeka Jobs

⭐️Senior Watersports Instructor
GREECE > A week or so ago, BeyondBeach still needed a senior watersports instructor to step up into a role at their Greek Beach Clubs.

AT SEA > A wealthy someone with shaggy hair wants a hairdresser to join an 80m+ new build for three months of the year, filling in for the usual hairdresser when on leave. Candidates should have at least a year of yachting experience. The Med in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter is the likely itinerary.
⭐️Fulbright Grants Are Available To Austrian Students
USA > Applications for Americans to work in Austrian secondary schools via the US Teaching Assistantship Program have closed. Austrian students wanting to go the other way and obtain a Fulbright grant to pursue a master’s degree and study in the US are in luck, though. The Application period for this is February 1 to May 1.
⭐️Volunteer At Roskilde Festival
DENMARK > Every year, CoffeeCow goes to Roskilde Festival to sell coffee and asks for help from strong people. ⭐️Trotters Independent Travel Will Pay Travel Writers £200 Per Piece
REMOTE > We were very excited to read in a recent issue of Wildly Successful Travelpreneurs that Trotters is launching in 2026 and will need travel writers. Mostly because we could make a crap joke that this is Del and Rodney’s latest venture. Matador seeking writers for golf pieces in Scotland and Hawaiʻi, and Nomad Cruise’s want for a digital nomad lifestyle writer are some of the other opportunities shared there.
⭐️Will Teach For Surf Lessons
INDONESIA > Iwan Sang Dakhi is still hanging out in volunteering Facebook groups, spreading the word about the Fatora English Project, located on Nias, an island off the western coast of Sumatra. Volunteers teach English to local children in return for accommodation and surfing lessons.
The graphic with all the details says there is a small donation to support the project. It doesn’t say how much, but if it hasn’t changed from last August, it will be US$5 a day, plus volunteers source their own food from the many food stalls in the area. Videos of teachers doing their thing can be found here, and if you’re still wavering, these sunset bintangs by the beach are making us think about what we are doing with our lives.
⭐️Share Your Hospitality Skills
LAOS > La Folie Lodge, a small boutique resort on Don Daeng Island in the Mekong in Southern Laos, is interested in volunteers willing to share and teach their skills in hospitality.
⭐️Thai Akha Volunteers Discounts To Bloggers
THAILAND > We found Chiang Mai’s Thai Akha Cooking School in Rowena Harding’s post, Thailand Told Through Noodles. Their Workaway profile, through which volunteers could have helped them grow and develop their cooking classes, has been paused, but bloggers can earn discounts on their courses. Warm Heart, in the Phrao District of Chiang Mai, may be a suitable alternative for volunteering.
Asian Oasis, who work with the Lisu, another hill tribe in Thailand, and who kindly hosted JAB many years ago, are also willing to explore potential collaboration opportunities with influencers. They have volunteering and internship programmes, too.

Other opportunities across the year will take place in Cancun, Varna, London, Amsterdam and Budapest.
⭐️Go Diving Show
UK & WORLDWIDE > NAEC Stoneleigh Park in Coventry will be hosting the 2026 Go Diving Show from February 28 to March 1. Google’s tame AI describes the show as an excellent venue for finding dive jobs, bringing together a large concentration of industry employers, including dive centres, liveaboard operators, and training agencies, and serving as a major hub for networking, allowing attendees to meet recruiters in person, which is often more effective than applying online.
